Playoffs, Anyone?

Jan 10, 2012

Last night's BCS Championship game received the lowest viewer rating since the beginning of the BCS era, which isn't surprising.  It matched up two teams from the same conference who'd already played each other once (in another snoozer back in November), there wasn't much controversy to speak of, and the game itself was pretty brutal to watch.  So once again, the big question surfaces: Should there be a playoff?  The President thinks so.  Many college coaches have admitted they do, too.  Even a solid majority of the players, who, by the way, get some pretty great perks for playing in those bowl games, say they'd like to see a playoff.  And what about the fans?  In a poll taken 5 years ago, a whopping 85% say they'd love to see some sort of change.  Can't imagine what those numbers would look like after last night.

What do you think?  More competition, or tradition?
